Jane Gifford

I am a creative and versatile communications professional with more than 15 years experience in upscale magazine publishing and print production. I have expertise in editing, writing, photographic production, advertising, marketing and special events.

Here are some career highlights:

As a freelance writer and editor, my work has most recently been published in The Architect's Newspaper, Architectural Digest (US edition), Vogue Australia, Harper's Bazaar (Australian edition), Robb Report, Robb Report Luxury Home and Robb Report Vacation Homes.

For a couple of years and until a year ago, I was an editor for Architectural Digest and worked on a variety of projects, first in Los Angeles and then in New York. I edited features from manuscript through final proof stage, wrote profiles of designers and architects and sourced items for the Discoveries by Designers section. I also managed the production of several special projects for AD editorial, including Women in Design Symposiums at the Museum of the City of New York and the Dallas Women's Museum, and the Architectural Digest Talks series of round-table discussions at Art Basel Miami Beach. In addition, I assisted the editorial Public Relations Director with marketing and publicity for the events.

In Australia, a decade or so ago, I founded a consultancy that provided project management and creative services for magazine, fashion and retail clients. During that time I was the editor of several special features and supplements for The Sydney Morning Herald Good Weekend Magazine, as well as the editor of the Business Review Weekly bi-annual Fashion Supplements. I also produced advertising, catalogs and other merchandising materials, from concept to printed product, for a number of high-end retailers.

Before then, after earning a BA from Sydney University and a stint as a publicity assistant for BBC TV Co-productions in London, I joined the staff of British Vogue as a special projects coordinator in the promotions department. I organized the production of advertorials and associated merchandising materials for advertisers, from client brief through photography to final proof stage or printed product. Several years later I returned to Sydney and, as the creative services manager for Vogue Australia, Vogue Living and Vogue Entertaining magazines, I developed and produced editorial-style targeted marketing solutions for advertisers.
